Other examples of items that should be insured separate from your home insurance are: Antiques, Fine Art, Coin collection, Golf equipment, Musical instruments, Camera equipment, Stamp collections, Hummel or figurine collections, practically anything of value.
If you have any of these items in excess of what your insurance company will pay, you need a Valuable Items Policy (VIP). For example, the most common VIP policy is for jewelry. If you have more than $1,500 of jewelry you need a VIP. We can cover your jewelry at a $14.00 per $1,000 of value rate. That means $10,000 worth of jewelry would cost $140.00 per year to insure it.
